Men tell Myrtle Beach police they were robbed at gunpoint
Three men told Myrtle Beach police they were robbed at gunpoint while they sat in their vehicle early Sunday, according to authorities.
The victims, ages 21 and 22, told officers that an armed man and several other men came up to their vehicle about 2:40 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the area of 16th Avenue North and Withers Drive, police said.
A 21-year-old man told police he was sleeping in the passenger side of his vehicle when he woke up to a man armed with a gun and wearing a black hooded shirt standing over him, according to the report. The victim said there were two to five other men surrounding the vehicle.
The victim said the robber demanded his wallet, so the victim got out of the vehicle and handed over his wallet, according to the report. The other two men were in the backseat of the car when the robber went to them and demanded their wallets.
Those victims told police they declined to give their wallets to the robber and they jumped out of the car, according to the report. The victims said the robber fired a shot between them and the robbers ran toward Kings Highway.
Police found a shell casing in the area and detectives are investigating the incident.
