Police investigate after two motorcycles stolen from Broadway at the Beach
Authorities responded after two people reported their motorcycles stolen in the Hard Rock Café parking lot at Broadway at the Beach, according to police reports.
Officers were called about 12 a.m. and again at 2 a.m. on Saturday to the Hard Rock Café parking lot at Broadway at the Beach where victims reported the thefts, police said.
When authorities were first called at 12 a.m., a 41-year-old man told police that he parked his red, 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle near the Hard Rock Café about 11 p.m. Friday night, and the bike was gone when he returned about an hour later.
A 40-year-old woman, who was with the victim, told police that her cellphone and $300 were inside the bike when it was taken, authorities said.
Police viewed security footage and said they saw two men tampering with the bike and then one of the men drove away on it.
Authorities were called back to the same location a couple of hours later when a 48-year-old man reported his blue, 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle was stolen, police said.
The victim said he parked his bike there about 10 p.m. Friday and when he returned about an hour later it was missing, authorities said.
Police entered details about the bike into their information systems, and it was listed as stolen.
Authorities also responded to reports about stolen motorcycles at hotels along Ocean Boulevard earlier this week, according to police reports.
Officers were called to the Viking Motel at 1811 S. Ocean Blvd. where a 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old man each reported separate theft incidents on Tuesday, police said.
Both victims awoke to find their bikes had been taken on Tuesday morning and called police after checking to see if their bikes had been towed.
Police said surveillance footage from a neighboring hotel showed a dark, Ford sports utility vehicle with a trailer attached arrive at the parking lot about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers also were called about a stolen motorcycle about 5 a.m. Sunday to the Landmark parking garage at 1502 S. Ocean Blvd.
A 30-year-old man told police that he parked his 2007 Honda motorcycle at the Landmark parking garage on level five about 11:30 p.m. Saturday and when he went back to the garage about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, his bike was missing, authorities said.
