Police investigate after pills stolen from hotel room
A woman told police that prescription pills were stolen from her hotel room while she was away at breakfast, according to a police report.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 5:45 p.m. Thursday to the Westgate Resort at 415 S. Ocean Blvd. where a 42-year-old woman reported the incident.
The victim said she and her family left their room for breakfast about 10 a.m. and when she returned about 11:30 a.m. she noticed her door had not been shut properly, authorities said.
The victim told police she specifically remembered closing her door before leaving for breakfast. When she went into her room she noticed her suitcase had been moved and her prescription pain medicine was missing, police said.
The victim called the hotel front desk, who told her she should call police.
Authorities requested a copy of electronic key record usage for the room.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
No arrests had been made in connection with the incident as of Friday morning.
