Police respond to attempted strong armed robbery near church/school

Myrtle Beach police responded after a man reported that another man came up to his car, which was parked near a school, and demanded money from him, authorities said.

Officers were called about 4:30 p.m. to a parking lot at 503 37th Ave. N. near St. Andrew Catholic Church, where a 50-year-old man reported the incident, according to the report.

The victim told police that he was parked near the south side of the church near Kings Highway when a man rode up on a yellow motorcycle with a cracked render and blocked him in, authorities said.

The victim said that the man came up and demanded the victim give him money and his wallet. The victim said he refused and the man demanded again. Some children then came out of the school, which the victim said scared the suspect away, according to the report.

The victim said the suspect left, headed northbound on Kings Highway. A witness, who was in the passenger seat during the incident, did not get a good look at the suspect, police said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday morning.
