Police searching for suspect after man robbed and gun fired

Myrtle Beach police are searching for a suspect after a man was robbed and shot at Saturday night, authorities said.

Officers were called about 1 a.m. Saturday to an apartment complex at 405 19th Ave. N. where a 24-year-old victim reported the incident, police said.

The victim told authorities he invited the suspect to his home, and the suspect grabbed the victim’s money clip, containing cash, a debit card, and the victim’s identification card, after saying the victim owed him money.

The victim said he tried to take his money clip back, but the suspect grabbed him by the throat, shoved him into the wall, and pulled a handgun from his waistband, police said.

The suspect then said, “I have already done two today, don’t be number three,” according to the police report.

The victim said the suspect then fired the gun in his direction, and a struggle ensued between the two in the apartment entry way, authorities said.

The suspect broke away from the struggle and got into a silver, early 2000-model Cadillac, and drove toward Kings Highway.

The victim saved the bullet casing, and police said they saw damage in the apartment that appeared to be from a gun being fired.

Authorities said witnesses on the scene told police stories consistent with the victim’s accountant of what happened.

Police were still searching for the suspect as of Tuesday morning.
