Update: Horry County police have suspect in custody after fatal shooting in Racepath

Horry County police recently determined a Friday night shooting that occurred on Racepath Street is a homicide, and the search for a man wanted in connection with the shooting ended early Saturday afternoon, according to Lt. Raul Denis.

James A Wilson, 22, of North Myrtle Beach, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and transported to the Horry County Detention Center to await charges, according to Denis.

Officers arrived at the scene in the Racepath Community, near Myrtle Beach city limits, just after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says the victim, identified as Nigeria McDonald, 21, was shot. She died around 9:05 p.m. at Grand Strand Medical Center from injuries sustained during the shooting.
