Myrtle Beach police searching for suspect following bank robbery
Myrtle Beach police are looking for a suspect after a man robbed a bank at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers responded Thursday afternoon to the Conway National Bank branch, near 21st Avenue and Greens Boulevard after a man entered the bank around 4:30 p.m., presented a gun, demanded cash then left with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Lt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police.
Authorities said the doors to the bank were locked when they arrived, and several employees and customers were inside the building.
The suspect left on foot after the incident and headed toward Greens Boulevard, authorities said.
The suspect is described as a black male about 6 feet tall and wearing a black hoodie and blue latex gloves, according to a police report.
Police worked into the evening on Thursday looking for the robber in the nearby area, including with help from South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents. A police dog was used to try to track the alleged robber.
The investigation was ongoing as of Friday morning.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department 918-1382.
