Horry County police found two discarded handguns at Danny’s Bar and Grill early Thursday after charging one man with possessing cocaine at the bar just a few hours earlier.

Anthony L. White, 23, of Salters was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base at Danny’s Sports Bar and Grill at 146 April Gray Lane in Myrtle Beach, according to Lt. Raul Denis.

A security guard called police around 1:20 a.m. after he found an Aleve bottle in White’s waistband while searching him before entering the bar, according to a police report. When the guard opened the bottle he saw an off-white color rock-like substance and called police.

Security guards detained White until police arrived, at which point White waived his Miranda Rights, the report said. Officers questioned White about the contents of the bottle, and he told police it was aspirin and “that [police] should take some,” the report said.

Police tested the substance and it proved positive for the presence of cocaine. White is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center waiting a bond hearing.

At 3:30 a.m., police were called back to Danny’s Bar and Grill after a second security guard saw two handguns on the floorboard of a car, police said.

While performing a perimeter check of the parking lot, the guard noticed two guns in a champagne-colored Nissan, a report said. When the guard returned after notifying the business owner, the car was gone but two handguns had been discarded in a grassy area near the parking lot, police said.

Both pistols were seized by police.

Police investigated other incidents at Danny’s Sports Bar and Grill this week, including an incident where a a security guard was shot outside the business.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Myrtle Beach security guard being shot in the leg outside the bar on Sunday night, Horry County police said.

Dustin Peavy, 23, of Loris was arrested Monday and was charged with attempted murder.

The 32-year-old victim was working as a security guard when he was shot in the leg about 11:15 p.m. Sunday outside of Danny’s Sports Bar, Denis said.

The victim told police he escorted a 23-year-old man out of the bar for being disorderly and as they left the building the suspect turned around and shot him in the leg, Denis said. The bartender recognized the suspect and gave police his information.

The suspect drove from the area before police arrived, according to a police report.
