Horry County police charged two men Wednesday after an armed robbery and stabbing earlier in the week.

Emmanuel Donnovan Burroughs, 20, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with armed robbery. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. Jashon Brainard, 16, of Myrtle Beach, was remanded to the Department of Juvenile Justice and will be charged with armed robbery as an adult, according to Lt. Raul Denis.

Officers responded to a man with a gun complaint on Maypop Circle in Myrtle Beach on Monday where they found a crowd of people near a man holding a handgun, Denis said.

Victims told police they were at a party around 10:45 p.m. when there was a knock on the door and the two suspects – Burroughs and Brainard – attempted to rob people at the party, Denis said.

Witnesses told police people began shouting that the suspects had a gun and Burroughs kept asking about the wherabouts of one of the victims while saying “where is my money,” according to the report.

Several party-goers fought with the two suspects in an attempt to subdue the robbers. Burroughs dropped his gun while running away and one of the victims picked it up, Denis said.

Around 11:33 p.m police responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment on Rittenhouse Road and found Brainard suffering from superficial stab wounds, Denis said. Burroughs and the 16-year-old told police they had been victims of an assault.

Brainard was taken to a hospital for his wounds and released into DJJ custody.
