A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Myrtle Beach area security guard being shot in the leg outside a bar on Sunday night, Horry County police said.

Dustin Peavy, 23, of Loris was arrested Monday and was charged with attempted murder. He is currently jailed at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, and his bond has not been set on Tuesday, according to jail records.

The 32-year-old victim was shot in the leg about 11:15 p.m. Sunday outside of Danny’s Sports Bar and Grill at 146 April Gray Lane in the Myrtle Beach area, Lt. Raul Denis said. The victim was working as a security guard at the bar at the time of the shooting.

The victim told police he escorted a 23-year-old man out of the bar for being disorderly and as they left the building the suspect turned around and shot him in the leg, Denis said. The bartender recognized the suspect and gave police his information.

The suspect drove from the area before police arrived, according to a police report.

The case remains under investigation, Denis said.
