Police arrest wanted man trying to bail friend out of jail

Myrtle Beach Police found a wanted man in the lobby of the jail.

Dustin Lee Smith, 24, was taken into custody after a Myrtle Beach police officer recognized him as a wanted man about 6 p.m. Sunday.

According to the police report, Smith was in the lobby of the Myrtle Beach Jail attempting to bail a friend out.

After recognizing Smith, the officer asked Smith his name, which matched the name on the warrant.

After Smith was taken into custody, police discovered he was in possession of marijuana and asked Smith what it was, he replied “weed,” according to the police report.

Smith was arrested marijuana first offense.
