Man hit in head with brick during robbery attempt in Myrtle Beach

A 39-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police he was hit in the head with a brick early Monday after he told a man, who tried to rob him, that he had no money with him, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that about 1:30 a.m. Monday he was walking from the beach in the area of Sixth Avenue North and Chester Street when the man approached him and demanded money, police said.

The victim said he had no money and the robber hit him with the brick, according to the report. The victim had blood coming from a wound on the back of his head and his left eye was swollen.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to the report. Officers did not find the robber or the crime scene and detectives plan to question the victim more about the incident.
