A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested after a man was stabbed in the chest late Thursday night, police said.

Jan Iko, 36, was charged with first-degree assault and battery and was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail on Saturday morning, according to jail records.

Iko’s bond has not yet been set.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on the 200 block of Withers Swash Drive where a 50-year-old man reported the incident, authorities said.

When police arrived, the victim was standing in the driveway, holding his chest and saying he had been stabbed, and police saw blood running down his shirt, according to the report.

The victim said when he got home he noticed that his bedroom door, which he keeps secure with a deadbolt, had been unlocked, and his locked toolbox had been broken into.

The victim said that Iko was the only one who had a key to his door, and he confronted her about the break-in when he saw her that evening, police said.

The victim told police that when he asked Iko about the incident, she yelled at him and punched him in the face with her fist. He said when he looked down blood was coming from his chest and realized he had been stabbed, according to the report.

The victim said he then ran outside and called 911. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police took pictures of his injuries and detectives interviewed him about the incident at the hospital.
