Elderly woman victim of purse-snatching in Myrtle Beach Big Lots
Police said a man snatched an elderly woman’s purse at a Myrtle Beach store while the woman was shopping with her husband.
Myrtle Beach police officers were called about 10 a.m. Thursday to Big Lots at 1370 S. Kings Hwy., where a 77-year-old woman reported the incident, according to the police report.
The victim told officers the alleged purse-snatcher followed her around the store but did not seem threatening, police said.
The victim was in the parking lot loading shopping bags into her trunk, using her right hand and keeping her black, clutch purse under her left arm when the suspect came up from behind and grabbed the purse, authorities said.
The victim told police the suspect then ran toward the beach. A man in the store parking lot tried to stop the suspect but he got away, according to the report.
Police had not made any arrests in connection with the incident as of Friday morning.
