Police called after man’s watch stolen from hotel room safe
Authorities responded after a man told them a watch was stolen out the safe in his hotel room after he accidentally left it open and went down to the beach, according to a police report.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to a hotel at 5200 N. Ocean Blvd. after the 40-year-old man realized one of six watches he left in his hotel-room safe was missing, authorities said.
The victim told police he and his family left the hotel room to go to the beach. When they returned several hours later, the victim discovered he accidentally left the safe open and that his gold, Invicta-brand watch, valued at $250, was gone, police said.
The victim said that the room had been cleaned by housekeeping when he returned and the balcony door was locked while he and his family were away from the room, according to the report.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
No arrests had been made in connection with the case by Thursday morning.
