Myrtle Beach police respond after woman pours olive oil on herself during domestic assault
Myrtle Beach police are searching for a man who is wanted in connection with criminal domestic violence after a woman struggled with an attacker and was punched in the face.
Authorities said the woman broke away during the assault and poured olive oil on herself.
Officers were called about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to a hotel on the 1000 block of South Ocean Boulevard, where a 38-year-old woman reported the incident.
The victim told police that a man she had lived with in the past came to her hotel room and the two argued over the man moving her things, police said.
The victim said she went to take a bag of her clothes from the suspect and he pushed her down and tried to choke her, according to the police report.
The victim told police she then bit the suspect’s arm during the struggle and she was able to get free, authorities said.
The victim said she went to the kitchen and got a bottle of olive oil and began to pour it on her clothes. The reason she did this was not explained in the police report.
The suspect then came in the kitchen and punched her in the face, knocking her out into the walkway outside the door, authorities said.
The suspect was not on the scene when police arrived.
The victim’s injuries were photographed by the police, who issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest in connection with criminal domestic violence.
Authorities had not made any arrests as of Thursday morning.
