Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office DEU agents seize more than 18 pounds of marijuana, four arrested

After receiving tips and complaints from the community, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit agents seized more than 18 pounds of marijuana and made four arrests on Wednesday in connection with marijuana possession and trafficking, including one person from Myrtle Beach and one from Loris, Emily Flax, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said.

Tameka Funderburk Morgan, 37, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with two counts of trafficking marijuana, conspiring to traffic marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Glen Roy Doyley, 30, of Loris, was charged with conspiring to traffic in marijuana.

Morgan was arrested after a traffic stop on U.S. 17 and Thomasboro Road in Calabash, N.C., then booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility where she is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Doyley was arrested after a traffic stop at U.S. 17, near Crow Creek, and he was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility, where he is also being held on a $100,000 bond.

Police also arrested a Calabash, N.C., couple in connection with marijuana possession and trafficking on Wednesday, Flax said.

Courtney Beckford, 32, is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling house used for keeping and selling marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Beckford was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Theresa Beckford, 32, was also charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling house used for keeping and selling marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Theresa Beckford was also jailed at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and was later released on a $30,000 bond.

The couple was arrested after a search warrant of their home resulted in the seizure of 5.5 pounds of marijuana and more than $15,000 in cash. The street value for the marijuana is estimated at approximately $13,000, Flax said.

The total street value of the seized marijuana from these arrests is $50,000, Flax said.
