Firefighters respond to early-morning Murrells Inlet house fire, cause undetermined

The cause of an early-morning house fire battled by Murrells Inlet firefighters in the Lakes Subdivision has not been determined, said Capt. Rodney Jewett with Murrells Inlet Garden City Beach Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the call about 4:25 a.m. Friday to a home, which was under construction, on Beaufort River Road, in the Lakes Subdivision, Jewett said.

No one was injured as the home was under construction and had no residents.

The house fire was “fully involved,” and the home was “completely destroyed,” Jewett said.

It was later determined that Horry County Fire Rescue would need to respond as the home is considered in their area.

An Horry County Fire Rescue investigator arrived on the scene this morning to find out the fire’s cause, but Jewett said he thought the cause would be difficult to determine due to the home’s total devastation.
