Man with gunshot wound in leg walks into Conway gas station, police determine gunshot self-inflicted

A man who went to a gas station for help early Thursday morning after suffering a gunshot wound in his leg told police that he accidentally shot himself in a Conway field, according to Lt. Selena Smalls with the Conway Police Department.

Police are still investigating the matter, but said there are no suspects in the case because the wound was self-inflicted from an accidental gun discharge, Smalls said.

The man told police he accidentally shot himself in the leg in a field at the end of Jenkins Road in Conway, Smalls said.

After the shooting, the man arrived about 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kangaroo gas station at 1700 Church Street, near Millpond Road, on foot to call emergency medical service workers to assist with his injury.

His injury was not considered life-threatening, Smalls said.
