Myrtle Beach police responded to reports of gunshots fired outside a Kings Highway bar last weekend, and authorities arrested a man in connection with weapons charges after a struggle involving several officers, police said.

Antonia Earl Williams, 29, was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, sale or delivery of a pistol, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana, according to jail records.

Police were called about 11:30 p.m. April 17 after someone reported that they may have heard gunshots fired near a Kings Highway bar on the 6000 block, authorities said.

When police arrived they saw a group of men near a silver car, and the men denied hearing any shots fired when police questioned them about the incident.

A witness inside the bar told officers that the men near the car were responsible for the shots fired, according to the report.

When officers went back outside, another police officer had arrived on the scene and was speaking with the suspects.

Williams was asked to step out of the car by an officer, but when he did police said he tried to “run through several officers to get away,” according to the report.

After a “lengthy struggle,” Williams was detained and a handgun was found in his waistband, according to the report.

Police said shell casing was found at the scene, but did not match the gun found on Williams.
