A McClellanville man pleaded guilty to armed robbery of a Georgetown convenience store and was sentenced to 12 years in prison, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Josh Lamar Green, 25, pleaded guilty April 2 to four counts of armed robbery and was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge George C. James Jr., according to the release issued last week.
In October, Nigal Omar Vanderhorst, 27, also of McClellanville also pleaded guilty to four counts of armed robbery and also sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The sentences of both men will run concurrently and they must serve 85 percent before they are eligible for release, according to the release.
The men were charged in connection to armed robberies in Georgetown on Oct. 13, 2013, and Sept. 23, 2013, officials said. In the October robbery, police were called to Carolina Petro station on North Hazzard Street for a robbery and then minutes later to the Dollar General on South Fraser Street for another robbery.
In the September robberies, officers were called to the Kangaroo store on Highmarket Street and Cooter’s South convenience store for robberies, according to the release.
Witnesses recognized one of the men and gave police a description of the vehicle, officials said. Georgetown and Charleston County officers searched a home in McClellanville and found clothing, a mask and handgun used in the robberies.
A third man was charged in the case and is awaiting a trial on the charges, but his information was not available.
