Dejavan Christopher Kimarrian Brown, left, and Jordan Thomas Hydrick, right, were arrested and charged with disturbing school after a fight broke out in the St. James High School parking lot.

Two students at St. James High School were arrested Wednesday after a fight broke out in the school’s parking lot.

Horry County police were called to the school on S.C. Highway 707 at 3:32 p.m. The principal told police that he had “intervened in a physical altercation” between 19-year-old Dejavan Christopher Kimarrian Brown and 17-year-old Jordan Hydrick in the front parking lot as school was ending for the day.

The principal said the students had an argument that turned physical, according to an incident report. Both students were brought back into the school to await police, the report stated.

Brown told police that Hydrick approached him in the parking lot wanting to fight and he struck Hydrick on the left side of his face.

Hydrick told officers that he did engage Brown in a verbal altercation that became physical and that the fight was mutual.

Police say Hydrick and Brown were charged with disturbing school and were transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center where they have both since been released.
