Myrtle Beach police arrested a man after he allegedly hit a woman multiple times at a bar on North Ocean Boulevard early Sunday morning.

According to the police report, witnesses claim Mark Anthony Garland, 48, walked in and witnessed the victim sitting at the bar with another man. Witnesses then told police, an argument broke out and Garland allegedly punched the victim three times in the face.

The police report says that Garland walked out of the bar and a bar employee followed him.

Police spotted a man matching Garland’s description near the 5th Avenue beach access area and questioned him. According to the police report, Garland refused to identify himself.

Garland was taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail and charged with assault and battery.
