Woman with prior active arrest warrant charged with assault after throwing beer can
A Myrtle Beach woman, who already had one active arrest warrant for a prior assault, was arrested in connection with domestic violence after police said she threw a beer can at a man, and then hit him with her fists several times, authorities said.
Patricia Buffa, 51, was charged with two counts of criminal domestic violence, according to jail records.
Police were called about 9:25 p.m. Friday to an apartment building at 301 North Kings Highway where a 61-year-old victim reported the incident.
While on the way to the home, police discovered Buffa had an active warrant in connection with an assault that occurred there April 13, according to the police report.
When police arrived Friday night, the victim told them that Buffa threw a beer can at him and then hit him with her fists multiple times, authorities said.
Police said the victim had injuries on his neck and chests, which were photographed by authorities.
Officers had also been called out to the home in connection with assault about 6:40 p.m. on April 13, according to a report.
Police spoke with the same 61-year-old victim, who Buffa allegedly attacked Friday, and he told officers Buffa had attacked him when he tried to stop her from harming herself with a box cutter, authorities said.
The victim said Buffa had tried to harm herself with a pairing knife the night before, and he was able to stop her and did not call police.
Officers thought Buffa should be evaluated by a doctor for her own safety, and she was taken to a hospital for observation and treatment at that time, police said.
