A 15-year-old boy told Horry County police three suspects checked his pockets and robbed him of his cellphone at gunpoint Wednesday night.
The teen was “visibly upset” when he told officers about the incident about 7 p.m. on the 200 block of Ivystone Drive, according to a police report.
He told authorities he was skateboarding in the Ivystone Apartment Complex parking lots when three males waved him down. He thought one of them was his friend, but realized he was mistaken when he got closer to the group.
The trio surrounded him, and one of the suspects reached into the victim’s pockets, asked him what he had, and pushed him to the ground.

One of the suspects took the teen’s cellphone and another suspect kicked him in the back, the report states. A suspect kicked the victim in the face, and another pulled out a handgun, the victim told police.
The victim declined medical treatment and gave police descriptions of the suspects. He told authorities the group ran from the area after the incident.
