Couple arrested in connection with assault following argument around watching movie
A Myrtle Beach couple was arrested in connection with criminal domestic violence following an argument that occurred either before or after the pair watched a movie, police said.
Nathaniel Covington, 35, and Antionette Morris, 35, were each charged with criminal domestic violence and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail, authorities said.
Officers with Myrtle Beach police were called about a noise complaint about 10:42 p.m. Thursday at an apartment building at 1810 Greens Blvd., where authorities got conflicting stories about an argument that led to the alleged assaults.
Police spoke with Morris and said there were inconsistencies in her story. She initially told police she fought with Covington about trying to have sexual relations. She then told police that they got into a “scuffle” over watching a movie together, according to the police report.
Morris said she touched Covington’s mouth, and he pushed her off him. Police noted Morris had bruises on her arms and injuries on her face.
Covington told police that he and Morris were watching a movie and fought afterward when he wanted to go to bed so he could get up early for work in the morning, police said.
Covington said Morris grabbed his face and scratched it and said Morris would not let him leave.
Police said Covington had injuries to his face, neck and both sides of his ribs.
Officers noted both Covington and Morris had been drinking alcohol, according to the report.
