Masked suspect robs Conway store employee at gunpoint, teen jailed

A masked man robbed a Conway store of cash Friday night, and Horry County police later arrested a teen in connection with the crime.

Officers were called about 8:30 p.m. to an armed robbery at the Bucksport Stop-N-Go on Bucksport Road in the Conway area.

No one else was in the store when a 40-year-old store employee noticed someone looking over a counter near a register, she told police.

The woman said the suspect came at her pointing a gun, followed her behind the counter, and demanded money from the register, according to the report.

The woman gave the suspect about $175 from the register in a “flowery purse with pink straps,” police said.

The suspect also asked about the store’s safe, and the woman told him they didn’t have one. The suspect, who was covering his face with a bandanna and wearing a gray hoodie, also demanded cigars and grabbed packs of them before leaving the store, according to authorities.

Police spoke with a woman who said her family members talked about robbing the store all week. She viewed surveillance footage and said the suspect on camera could be her relative.

The suspect was identified as 17-year-old Keith Holland in the report. Officers traveled to his home and didn’t find anything that linked him to the robbery at that time.

Holland was later arrested and charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the incident, according to jail records.

He is being held on a total of $27,500 bond at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, records show.
