Myrtle Beach police officers arrested the same woman only days apart in connection with two separate incidents, including an assault with a belt and pointing a gun at someone, according to police reports.

Ruth Marlou Griffin, 48, was most recently arrested in connection with assaulting a man with a belt on Sunday and is being jailed at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $1,092.00 bond.

Griffin also was arrested in connection with pointing a gun at someone during an argument on April 9, authorities said.

Officers were most recently called about Griffin around 5:20 a.m. Sunday to a motel at 2108 North Ocean Blvd. where a 49-year-old victim reported he was assaulted by Griffin, police said.

The victim told police he was asleep in his room at a motel located on the 2300 block of Withers Drive when Griffin started yelling at him and hitting him with a belt, according to a police report.

The victim told police he was not sure how many times Griffin hit him with the belt, but thought she hit him more than 10 times, police said.

Authorities photographed raised welts on the victim’s back, chest, and legs as evidence.

The victim told police Griffin was upset because she thought he had been in a hot tub with another woman, but the victim claimed he was not, authorities said.

Police searched for Griffin at the incident location, but did not initially find her; however, she was arrested later and charged with third-degree assault and battery, according to jail records.

Officers also arrested Griffin on April 9 in connection with pointing a gun at someone during an argument.

She was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and was charged with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at someone.

Griffin was released April 11 on $5,000 bond, according to jail records.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 8:15 p.m. April 9 to a home on the 3900 block of Camellia Drive, off 44th Avenue North, according to a police report.

A 42-year-old victim told police Griffin pointed what looked to be a handgun at her then ran inside the home on Camellia Drive.

Griffin told police she did not know anything about the incident and did not have a gun, authorities said.

Myrtle Beach police detectives arrived on the scene and determined Griffin should be arrested in connection with the incident after doing an investigation, authorities said.
