Man followed to Broadway at the Beach, shown gun by man who claimed to be with Ukrainian mafia
A man told police that another man followed him into Broadway at the Beach, tried to hit his car several times, and then showed him a gun and told the victim he was with the “Ukrainian mafia,” according to a police report.
Officers were called about 1 p.m. Saturday to Broadway at the Beach where a 19-year-old victim reported the incident, authorities said.
The victim told police that a man in a black Lexus followed him off U.S. 17 Bypass and into the Broadway at the Beach complex and tried to hit the victim’s car three times in a parking area, police said.
The victim told officers he was able to “lose” the car and parked in a different area, then left his car and headed toward a restaurant, according to the report.
The victim said he was then approached by a man who started yelling at him in another language. The suspect told the victim he was with the Ukrainian mafia and pulled out a small handgun and showed it to him, police said.
The victim said the suspect did not point the gun at him, but did show it to him. The suspect ran away when the victim said he was going to call the police, authorities said.
Police had not made any arrests in connection with the incident as of Tuesday morning.
