Gunfire erupts during argument at Horry County bar, report says

One man pulled out a gun and fired it multiple times at a man he was arguing with early Thursday morning outside the Koyote Saloon Sports Bar and Grill, according to an Horry County police report.

When officers made it to the scene about 1:30 p.m. to the bar off U.S. 501, they found four spent shell casings both on the sidewalk and in the parking lot near the front door, a report states.

A bullet fragment was discovered at the main entrance and appeared to have ricocheted off a steel plating by the front door, police said.

Authorities viewed surveillance footage and said it showed a man about 20 to 30 years old arguing outside the business with another man who looked to be anywhere from 20 to 40 years old.

One of the men then pulled a gun from his front pocket area and fired down near the other man’s feet and legs, the report says.

The victim then went into the business through the main doors, and the suspect fired about three or four more times in his direction, according to the report. Men with the suspect were seen on the footage trying to prevent him from going toward the victim, authorities said.

The suspect then went out of range of the camera’s eye, and officers noted they thought he left in a vehicle.

The victim was gone when police got there. Officers said they weren’t sure if he was injured in the shooting, and said no calls had been made to Horry County dispatchers about the incident.
