Man arrested in connection with rape after victim reports incident at motel
A man was arrested in connection with a rape that was reported Thursday, according to authorities.
Joey Lavon Floyd, 29, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct on Thursday and is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.
Myrtle Beach police were called to a motel for a call about a rape Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers responded about 2 p.m. to the Summer Sands Motel on 1404 S. Ocean Boulevard, according to a police report.
Emergency medical service workers were on the scene with the victim, whose age was not listed in the report.
The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment and met with detectives there, police said.
Police have not released many details about the incident.
Floyd was also charged with petit larceny and is being held on a $781 bond for the additional charge, according to jail records.
