A man was arrested in connection with an assault after the man accused a woman of cheating on him and being a prostitute, authorities said.

Robert William Brown, 48, was charged with criminal domestic violence after police determined he was the aggressor in an argument with a 31-year-old victim, according to a police report.

Police were called about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a hotel at 308 Second Ave. N. in reference to a disturbance.

The victim told officers she and Brown argued for a while about her allegedly cheating on him and being a prostitute, authorities said.

The victim told Brown she never cheated on him and said he was “acting crazy,” according to the report.

The victim said Brown left for his second job and when he came back, he drink heavily and argued with her again.

The victim said Brown pulled her off the bed and onto the floor where he tried to hold her down by her face while saying “I’m gonna cut you,” according to the report.

The victim got away and ran to the hotel management office where police were called, authorities said.

The victim refused medical treatment, but allowed police to take pictures of scratches on her backside, police said.

Authorities said the victim appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but told police she was not.

Police said Brown was bleeding heavily from his left arm when they went to speak with him about the incident.

Authorities also said Brown had cuts on his face and ear and appeared very intoxicated.

Brown told police a neighbor heard him and the victim arguing and came over and punched him, then stabbed him with a broom handle, according to the report.

Police spoke with a neighbor who said she heard the victim yelling for help and looked through the window and saw Brown assaulting the victim, authorities said.

The neighbor said she ran to get her boyfriend and called for help. The neighbor said Brown came over and knocked on her door after the victim got away and demanded to know where she went.

The witness told police Brown’s arm was already injured when he came over, and police said they saw blood spots in front of the neighbor’s door.
