Myrtle Beach authorities investigating apartment complex meth lab
The Myrtle Beach police and fire departments are on the scene at a meth lab at an apartment complex, said Lt. Joey Crosby, spokesman with the police department.
The apartment complex has been evacuated, Crosby said.
Authorities responded about 7 a.m. Thursday at 609 Fourth Ave. N. to investigate the possibility of a meth lab, and Crosby confirmed at about 8:45 a.m. Thursday that a meth lab was found at the scene.
Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Disposal Team have been contacted and are on the way to the scene.
Members of the American Red Cross are helping 15 people displaced by the evacuation, said Jennifer Heisler, Red Cross regional communications officer. Disaster-trained volunteers from the Red Cross will be providing food, water and snacks to the residents.
More details will be released as soon as they become available.
