Myrtle Beach police find sleeping fugitive in parking lot

Myrtle Beach police found a woman, who was wanted in connection with a “dangerous drugs” charge in Indiana, asleep in a parked car, according to a police report.

Shelia Mae Richart, 43, was arrested by Myrtle Beach police and charged as a fugitive, authorities said.

An officer said he found Richart about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, asleep in a white Ford 250 in a parking lot at Flagg Street and First Avenue.

Richart told the officer her name and birth date, and the officer found that she was listed as a wanted person in Indiana in police information systems, authorities said.

Richart’s arrest warrant in Indiana was for “dangerous drugs, dealing narcotic,” according to the report.

Richart was taken in the Myrtle Beach Jail, but she will be extradited back to Indiana, police said.
