Horry County man given two life in prison sentences in killings of father, son
An Horry County man was ordered to serve two life in prison sentences after he was convicted in the deaths of a Loris man and his son in 2012, officials said.
Odom Bryant, 24, was convicted of two counts of murder and Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson ordered him to serve the two life sentences for the Aug. 19, 2012 shooting deaths of Amos Hatfield and his son Thomas “Tommy” Hatfield.
Bryant’s trial began Jan. 12 and a jury of three men and nine women convicted him on Thursday, according to court records.
Prosecutors said Bryant along with 66-year-old Amos Hatfield’s wife, Sandy Lee Locklear, conspired to kill the men in exchange for a $1 million life insurance policy.
Bryant is one of three people who were charged in the double slaying that happened inside a double-wide mobile home at 1163 Red Bluff Road.
In June, Sandy Lee Locklear, 43, of Tabor City, N.C., was convicted of two counts of murder in the death of her husband and his 40-year-old son. She also was sentenced to life in prison following a two-week trial.
Nehemiah James Evans, 30, of Nichols, also faces two counts of murder and his case will be adjudicated later.
