Loris man charged with felony DUI in fatal crash
A Loris man was charged in connection with a fatal crash that killed a passenger in one of the two cars, according to authorities.
Craig Austin Livingston, 32, Loris was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday on charges of felony driving under the influence with great bodily injury, felony DUI with death results and open container of beer/wine in a vehicle, according to jail records.
Livingston remains jailed pending a bond hearing, records showed at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol charged Livingston in connection with a crash that happened about 8:15 p.m. Monday when he was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer south on Red Bluff Road.
Livingston crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Jeep Cherokee that was traveling north, Cpl. Sonny Collins said.
Christopher Waddell, 26, of Loris was a passenger in the Jeep and died in the crash, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.
Livingston was taken to the hospital after the crash before he was taken to the jail and formally charged, Collins said.
The crash remains under investigation.
