Conway man charged with murder in Friday’s shooting

A Conway man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of an Horry County man on Friday, according to authorities.

Shackeel Aaron Coleman, 21, of Conway was charged with murder in connection with the shooting that occurred Friday night, Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said. Coleman is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

The charge stemmed from the death of David Jermaine Williams, 38, who died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said Monday. An autopsy was performed Saturday on Williams.

Horry County police were called at 9:35 p.m. Friday to Tidway Circle in the Conway area for a shooting, Kegler said Monday. When officers arrived at the location they found Williams, who was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Horry County police detectives began their investigation and learned that Coleman went to the home after he learned his mother and Williams had argued over property, Kegler said. Information about the property was not listed in the release.

Detectives learned that Coleman came into the residence armed with a handgun and shot the victim, Kegler said. Coleman was at the home when police arrived and taken into custody there.

A records check with the State Law Enforcement Division showed that Coleman does not have a previous record.
