Police were called to the hospital for a man with a gunshot wound
Myrtle Beach police were called to Grand Strand Medical Center Saturday afternoon when a man was admitted to the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Hospital staff told police around 2:30 p.m. that they received a man with “an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen,” prompting a lockdown at the hospital, according to an incident report.
Officers conducted a protective sweep of the hospital, but did not report finding any suspects on scene.
“The victim was already in the operating room when we arrived,” Officer B. Devoid noted in his report. The charge nurse told police that the victim stated the incident happened in North Carolina.
The victim was initially accompanied by a woman and small child, but the woman and child had left before police arrived, according to the report.
