He was beat, bound and gagged after answering a knock on his motel room door
Police are looking for suspects, who reportedly beat, bound and gagged a man they robbed at the Beachwalk Motel after burglarizing a neighboring room where guests were slumbering.
A man, staying at the motel, told police he heard a knock on the door of his room around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4. He opened the door to find two black men and a white woman, who “grabbed him and threw him into” the room, according to an incident report.
The man told police that the suspects “tied his hands and feet” and had the woman tear a sheet to gag him with before the male suspects threw him into a bath tub.
Officers observed a swollen right eye and blood on the victim’s face, according to the report.
“The victim was unable to stand and stated that he was punched repeatedly and thrown on his back and right hip. The victim had blue shoe laces tied around his wrists and a piece of ripped sheet around his neck,” the report stated.
The suspects were described as a black man with long dreadlocks in his 20’s, a 25-year-old white woman and a 30-year-old Conway man, identified in the report as Ismail Omar Dickerson.
Later that morning, a woman in a neighboring room told police that she had been roused from her sleep around the same time and “noticed a tall black man with long dreadlocks standing at the end of her bed,” according to a separate incident report.
The woman said she asked the man what he was doing and that he responded by asking to use her bathroom; she said, “no,” and he left, according to the report.
A couple of hours later, the woman and her son noticed items missing from their room, police said. Two cellphones, jewelry, a Tennessee driver’s license, a social security card, an insurance card, a wallet and fishing equipment were reported stolen, in the report.
Later that evening, police say they stopped a man that matched the description of the suspect with dreadlocks from the morning calls. The man fled as police approached, according to another incident report.
After the man was detained, police reported finding 9 wax slips of heroin in his pocket.
Thirty-four-year-old Stanley Jermaine Brown of Myrtle Beach was charged with resisting arrest and a warrant was issued charging Brown with possession with intent to distribute heroin. He had not been charged with the Beachwalk Motel break-ins as of Sunday night.
Dickerson was charged with armed robbery, possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, first-degree assault and battery, kidnapping, first-degree burglary, public intoxication and being a pedestrian on a controlled-access highway, according to online jail records.
