Police see crowd of people running. Then one of them says, ‘He has a gun.’

“He has a gun,” a young girl told police as she ran in a crowd of people fleeing the area of 8th Avenue South on Ocean Boulevard at 1:23 a.m. Sunday.

Myrtle Beach police found the gun witnesses had described, loaded and discarded near a car in the Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort parking lot, according to an incident report.

Officers detained two men, suspected of causing the panic that inspired the crowd of people to run, as the two were heading to the beach.

Twenty-year-old Keyshawn Brandon Glendel Brown of Lamar was charged with the unlawful carry of a pistol after officers say they linked him to the discarded gun.

Nineteen-year-old Tijuan Akel Herion, also of Lamar, was later charged with the same count after a hotel guest found another gun that had been stolen out of Lamar and stashed in a bush near the same car at the Sea Crest.
