Marion woman facing charges after deadly S.C. 9 collision
A Longs man was killed Saturday night after the mo-ped he was operating was rear-ended by a car.
The fatal collision occurred just before 11 p.m. on S.C. Highway 9 near Turn Plow Drive in Longs, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden. “Christopher McIntyre died of injuries sustained in the collision.”
McIntyre was 33 years old.
Wanonia Blakeney of Marion was driving a Chrysler 300, traveling south on S.C. 9 when she struck the back of McIntyre’s mo-ped near Charter Drive, said Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Blakeney was charged with driving too fast for conditions, operating a vehicle without a license tag and operating an uninsured vehicle.
McIntyre was originally from North Myrtle Beach, where he attended high school, and worked as a security guard, according to his Facebook page.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
