When the 2nd fake looked just like the 1st fake, they knew it was funny money

Two 20 dollar bills with the same serial number, same lack of hologram and same fake feel?

The Donut Man employees told police they knew the bill a customer tried to pay with was phony because it was just like an earlier counterfeit twenty they received and kept at the register.

Employees weren’t buying it when a man tried to purchase a dozen donuts with the funny money early Sunday morning. A store clerk said she told the man that she knew it was fake and when he asked for the money back she told him to leave, according to a police report.

The man left the store, but not without being captured on surveillance footage which helped give police a good idea of what the suspect looks like. The suspect is described as a white male standing approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, according to a police report. The suspect has short dark hair and was wearing a dark sweatshirt with red lettering and dark pants, the report stated.

Police planned to circulate photos of the suspect for possible identification.

The owner of the store showed police the first fake $20 bill that was recently used in the shop. Both bills bore the same serial number, lacked a legit 20’s hologram, hidden watermark and security strip and both felt fake, according to the report. Both were taken into custody as evidence.
