Myrtle Beach police investigate at the 7 Brothers Motel on North Ocean Boulevard after a 32-year-old man is shot in the leg.

A 32-year-old man who was shot in the leg while at the 7 Brothers Motel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach Thursday morning was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment, police said.

Myrtle Beach officers were called about 6:40 a.m. to the Bermuda Sands Motel at 104 N. Ocean Boulevard in reference to a gunshot victim, police said.

Authorities said they found the victim, who had been shot in the leg, in the motel lobby and in stable condition. The victim told police he had been shot by a man named “Mike” who was staying in the 7 Brothers Motel across the street, according to a police report.

The victim, who told police he was staying at the Bermuda Sands Motel, told police the suspect used a “large pistol,” possibly a .357 magnum on him, the report states.

EMS arrived and transported the injured man to the hospital. Three people staying in the room pinpointed as the suspect’s lodging at 7 Brothers Motel were rounded up and questioned by police, and all said they had no knowledge of the incident and had been asleep all night.

A witness at the scene told officers he had been sitting in a van behind the incident location when he heard a gunshot ring out, and then said he saw two men running from the side of building afterward, authorities said.

The first man ran past the van and northbound toward Second Avenue North, and the other man got into a dark colored, mid-sized car and traveled southbound toward First Avenue before turning right toward Kings Highway, the witness told police.

Police also spoke with a man who was staying at the Bermuda Sands with the victim. The man told police the victim went to an unknown bar around midnight and returned about 3:30 a.m. with an unknown man, the report states.

The victim received a phone call and said he was headed back out, and the man said he advised him to be careful. The man said he later got a call about 6:30 a.m. from the victim, who was using the hotel’s front desk phone, saying he had been shot. The man told police he had been “half asleep” when the victim came back with the unknown male and was not familiar with him, according to the report.

Police reviewed surveillance footage of cameras at the Bermuda Sands and obtained a description of the suspect they are searching for, the report says.
