Neighbor awakened by gunfire tells police this isn’t the first time

Police found a vacant home on Foxtail Drive in Longs to be riddled by bullets Sunday after a neighbor complained of hearing six or seven gunshots in the area.

A neighbor told police she and her husband were awoken by the sound of gunfire around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, but she said it wasn’t the first time she had heard the piercing sound of bullets flying in the area.

The police were called to a vacant neighboring home in reference to property damage caused by alleged gunfire on Sept. 8, according to an incident report.

The homeowner has the home listed for sale and the neighbor told police she had been asked to look after the property while the property owner was out of town. The neighbor said she found three bullets on the street near the home as she walked her dog. She handed the bullets over to police, according to the report.

After a consent from the owner to search the property, police found damage to the home’s siding, windows, window casings, walls, sheet rock and door casings that appeared to be consistent to “damages caused by bullets,” according to the report.

Police collected numerous shell casings from the area.
