Second teen charged in Conway fatal shooting

A Conway teen was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting that killed a 36-year-old man and injured another, according to a news release.

Rashad Derller, 19, of Conway was taken into custody Monday evening without incident and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 8:10 p.m., according to authorities. Burroughs is being held pending a bond hearing.

A 15-year-old Conway teen was charged Jan. 11 with murder and two counts of attempted murder in the shooting incident.

Conway police filed the charges against the teens in connection with the shooting death of Sylvester Lorenzo Bell Jr., 36, of Conway, who was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m. Jan. 8, Hipp said.

Bell and another man were shot about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7 while standing outside a home in the 2000 block of Sixth Avenue in Conway, Hipp said. The other man suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both men were treated at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

The shooting remains under investigation and Conway police want anyone with information to call them at 248-1790.
