Myrtle Beach-area organizations need your help

Donations: Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach is in need of paper towels, white and colored computer paper, kitten and puppy food, treats for dogs and cats, kitty litter, cat toys, pet beds, collars and leashes, bleach, dish and laundry soap. Volunteers: Help4Kids is in need of volunteers for their next food drive to be held from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Feb. 20, at Wal-Mart, S.C. 544, Surfside Beach, Neighborhood Market at Ocean Lakes and Gator Hole, North Myrtle Beach. Volunteers are needed to load the van at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19 and unload the van at 1 p.m. Feb. 21. Phone volunteers are needed at Forestbrook location, two shifts available, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. 843-651-4310

Donations/volunteers: Bikini Beach Cat Rescue needs members of the community to become involved in the organization. Donations of money or time would be greatly appreciated. We help community residents with low-cost spay/neuters. If you have the time, please volunteer. We desperately need a grant writer, trappers, crates and people who can help with fundraisers and have ideas on ways to raise money. 843-655-7881

Donations: Family Outreach is in need of all sizes of diapers, baby wash and wipes, bottles, baby food, cereal and formula, new and gently used clothing for newborn to size 5, baby and children’s socks. 843-234-2350

Donations: North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department launches “sock it to winter” campaign, they are in need of new socks, any style or color for youth and adults. Socks for the homeless can be dropped off at these fire stations: station 1 - 1015 Second Ave. S.; station 2 - 307 Sea Mountain Highway; station 3 - 803 33rd Ave. S.; station 4 - 5345 Little River Neck Road and station 5 - 4740 Barefoot Resort Bridge Road. www.NMB.us

Donations: North Strand Housing Shelter is in need of select-a-size paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, laundry soap, bleach and more. Items may be dropped off at Mattress Direct, 586 U.S. 17 Gator Hole Plaza, North Myrtle Beach or North Strand Housing Shelter, 2335 S.C. 9 W., Longs. Donations: The Friends of the North Myrtle Beach Library are accepting used books for its resale book racks. Please drop the books off at the library during regular library hours at 910 First Ave. S. The proceeds are used to purchase items for the library. 843-915-5281.

Volunteers: If you like helping seniors and want to make a difference, we want to hear from you. Agape Hospice pairs volunteers with patients and we are looking for folks willing to give of their time and talents. 843-307-4740.
