Megan Wheless was honored by the North Myrtle Beach Optimist Club as September’s Student of the Month. Megan is the daughter of Holly and Art Wheless. She is in the 8th grade at North Myrtle Beach Middle School and is a member Jr. Beta, Student Council, Band and FCA.
Away from school, Megan is involved with the youth group at Wampee Baptist Church, Little River. She has volunteered at Wampee Baptist Church’s VBS, prepared prison packets for J Reuben Long Detention Center at Christmas, handed out clothes and school supplies for the Freedom Center in Kentucky, and helped prepare Meal Mania for local food pantries. With her actions, she is able to be a positive role model for other students and improve her community’s environment.
During high school, Megan plans to continue to work hard and be successful. After graduation, she plans to attend college and become a special education teacher.
The Student of the Month is selected by a committee of teachers. The selection is based on community service, academic achievement, personal effort, and positive behavior.
