Rotary club puts new shoes on elementary students’ feet
On Aug. 15, the Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise helped 64 Waccamaw Elementary students pick out new shoes so they can start the new school year on the right foot. The Happy Feet project is one of three elementary school support programs funded and administered by the club. The other two, Warm Bodies and P Cubed: Pads, Papers, Pencils for Pupils, also help assist children identified by classroom teachers and administrators. Each year, the club spends more than $5,000 on the three projects, which support both Waccamaw Elementary and Carolina Forest Elementary.
The Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise is a Flex Club. Having the Flex Club status allows the club to actively participate in community events on a bi-weekly basis. The first and third Wednesdays of each month are breakfast meetings to share ideas and fellowship. The other weeks are held at civic events to assist and spread Rotarian efforts throughout the community. The club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 a.m. at Beef O'Brady's in the Carolina Forest Kroger Shopping Center.
