High schoolers get an inside look at Georgetown sheriff’s department
Sheriff Lane Cribb’s third annual Summer Academy was held recently, and eight Georgetown County high school students applied and were accepted into the program. The week-long academy introduced the students to all aspects of the sheriff’s office and the daily duties of a sheriff’s deputy. The range of activities included the uniform patrol division, criminal investigations, crime scene analysis, judicial services, the detention center, the 911 communications center and the special operations unit.
Approximately 25 people attended the graduation ceremony for the Sheriff’s Summer Academy. Each cadet received a certificate of completion and a sheriff’s office challenge coin.
