Myrtle Beach’s Penter to compete for ‘Distinguished Young Woman’ title
Caitlyn Penter of Myrtle Beach will participate in the 58th Distinguished Young Women National Finals to be held June 25-27 at the Mobile Civic Center Theater, Mobile, Ala. Penter is one of 50 state representatives competing for a share of $150,000 in cash scholarships and the opportunity to represent the program as the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2015.
The competition includes five categories of evaluation: scholastics, interview, fitness, talent and self-expression. Penter is spending two weeks in Mobile to participate in team-building activities, complete community service projects, interact with the Gulf Coast community through various events and rehearse.
Penter, daughter of Laura and Michael Penter, is a 2015 graduate of Horry County Schools’ Scholars Academy.
